Götz Bernau was born in Braunschweig.
He studied at the music-academies in Hannover and Demold (Prof. Max Strub).

1963 he started his professional career as a concertmaster (leader), working with several German orchestras(opera and symphonic branch).

Götz Bernau has been living in Berlin since 1969 and has since then held the position as a leader(1st concertmaster) of the ÑBerliner Symphonikerì.
(Conductors u.a. Theodore Bloomfield, Alun Francis, just now L.Shambadal)1998 they made a tour to the States with Mr. Silverstein.,  November 2001 they will tour in Southamerica, with concerts in Cararacas, Sao Paulo, Montevideo, Cordoba, Mexiko City a.m, under the button of  Maestro Eduardo Marturet.)
Götz Bernau has performed regularly in Berlin,(also at the Berliner Festwochen: Krenek, Henze))  in many European countries, in Russia and USA, including manyÑ forgottenì works and first performances of new pieces in his programmes. (e.g. KRENEK, GADE, RESPIGHI, HUBER, SALLINEN Riegger etc.,) More then 20 concertos for violin were played the first time by Götz Bernau
He played the first performance of Camargo Guarnieris violinconcerto, and also the European premiere of H.Villa Lobos ëMovimentos Mistosí-violin-concerto.
Götz Bernau made recordings with several radio companies, L-P and CD productions as soloist and chambermusicplayer.

August 2000 he performed  u.a. Heinrich v. Herzogenberg Andante, dedicated to Joseph Joachim from the  violin-Concerto .  FIRST PERFORMANCE in the Berlin Philharmonie, .
also as the first performance of Friedrich Metzler`s violin concerto 2nd of April 2001, Schauspielhaus Berlin.
August 2001   Concerts in Asuncion , Paraguay (again the Adagio of Herzogenberg) with the OSCA  under Luis Szaran and Duo Programs with Valetina Diáz Frenót, piano .
31. März 2002   first Performance of  3. concerto for violin and orchestra by HELGE JÖRNS, in Berlin together with Berliner Symphoniker.
August 2002  a second tournee to Latin America, Concerts with Valentina Diáz Frenót in Montevideo and Paraguay and in Berlin.
Solist with the  Orchestra of Asuncion, (OSCA) under Luis Szaran.
Touring with the pianoquintet pihtipudas Kvintetti
to Venezuela and US Festivals.
